Henry County
Henry County, Georgia is a political subdivision created and existing under the laws of the State of Georgia, with its formal name "Henry County." An Act of the General Assembly of the State of Georgia created Henry County on May 15, 1821. Henry County is located in the north central portion of the State of Georgia, approximately 25 miles southeast of the City of Atlanta.
The incorporated municipalities in Henry County are: McDonough, the county seat, Hampton, Locust Grove, and Stockbridge. Henry County presently has a land area of approximately 333 square miles.
The terrain is rolling, and the elevation of McDonough, the county seat, is 855 feet above sea level. Average rainfall is 48 inches per year, and average temperatures range from a high of 87 degrees in the summer to a low of 33 degrees in the winter.
