Billing and Collection
All water meters are read monthly and bills are generated based on those readings. Meters are read electronically, thus eliminating the possibility of a visual misread. Meter readers need only to touch the top of the meter lid with an electron meter reading device and the reading is automatically stored in the device, where it can then be downloaded into the computer that generates bills.
HCWSA is currently taking the next step in this electronic technology, wherein as meter readers travel down the road in their trucks, the meter in the customer's yard transmits the reading to the computer in the truck. As the number of customers in Henry County grows each month, this new technology should allow the Authority to continue to read each meter every month, without having to dedicate more personnel to this task.
