The HCWSA's ability to meet future customer demand
Water System Demand.
The HCWSA current average water demand is approximately 15.3 MGD, with a maximum daily demand reaching nearly 23.5 MGD. In 1995, the HCWSA served just over 19,000 customers (18,575 residential and 428 commercial). Since then, those account totals swelled by more than 27,000 to top the 50,000 customer mark. The HCWSA currently has about 48,500 residential water customers and 1,500 commercial/industrial connections.
Sewerage System Demand.
The HCWSA current average daily treated wastewater flow is 4.5 MGD. The maximum daily treated wastewater flow, during the peak of operations, reached 5.5 MGD. In 1995, the average daily flow of treated wastewater was just 1.6 MGD, while the maximum daily treated wastewater flow peaked at 2.376 MGD. At that same time, the HCWSA had only 2,317 total sewer connections. Now, approximately 10 years later, that number has more than quadrupled reaching 13,000 total sewer customer connections.
