Outdoor Water Use
Outdoor use of water for HCWSA customers - as of June 11, 2008 and until further notice - is as follows:
- Odd number addresses may water on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays, between midnight and 10:00 a.m.
- Even numbered addresses may water on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays, between midnight and 10:00 a.m.
- Swimming pools may be filled without restrictions on day or time.
- Watering food gardens is permitted without restrictions on day or time.
- Newly installed landscaping may be watered only on the day of installation, and then must adhere to rules listed above (in directives 1 and 2).
- Watering in herbicides is permitted only on the day of application, with no hourly restrictions on that day.
- Washing/pressure washing houses and buildings is permitted (except on Fridays).
- Washing vehicles, such as cars, boats, trailers, motorbikes, airplanes, golf carts, four wheelers, etc., is permitted (except on Fridays).
- Fund-raisers, such as car washes, are permitted (except on Fridays).
- Use of water for ornamental purposes, such as in fountains, reflecting pools, and waterfalls, is permitted.
- Outdoor use of water for commercial purposes is allowed per Rules of Environmental Protection Division Outdoor Water Use, Chapter 391-3-30.05. Those "Rules of Use" are outlined at: http://www.gaepd.org/Documents/water_use_schedules.html.
The following outdoor uses are prohibited:
- Using hydrants for any purpose other than firefighting, public health, safety, or flushing.
- Washing hard surfaces, such as streets, gutters, sidewalks, and driveways, except when necessary for public health and safety purposes.
